Cooksie made three records, and
Matt and John made another one under the name Cook Bros. The first was
“Whiskey Slide,” recorded in 1999 by Matt and John to a four-track cassette
machine over the course of a week in a cabin in the foothills of Sierra
Nevadas. Then came “Liquorland” in 2001, made at Stroppy Analog Recording in
Chicago, with John flying in from New York for weekend sessions. By 2003,
John was living in Chicago and Cooksie made “Come See My Band,” its first
record as an actual working, rehearsing band, at King Size Sound Labs. In
2006, Matt and John made “A Flock of Birds Flew Into My Mouth” as the Cook
Bros. in Matt’s basement. Click on the album titles above to be taken to a
page where you can download mp3 files of the songs or a zipped archive of the
entire record. The files are high-quality and therefore large. Anybody who
would like higher quality lossless files is encouraged to e-mail John at john
at referencetone dot com; he’d be happy to Pando you the files in FLAC or Apple
Lossless. |
